MelroseMAC Service Department FAQs

Our Service Department provides Apple-authorized repairs, diagnostics, and data services for both in-warranty and out-of-warranty devices. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about our process, turnaround time, and what to expect when checking in your device.

• Do I need an appointment?

Appointments are recommended for faster service, but walk-ins are always welcome. Booking ahead helps us prepare the right technician and parts to reduce wait times.

Please note: Appointments serve as placeholders for service queue priority and do not guarantee part availability. Some repairs may require ordering parts before service can be completed.

• What’s the typical turnaround time?

Diagnostics are typically completed within 1–2 business days from check-in. We do not perform diagnostics at the counter; all evaluations are done on our secure service bench to ensure accuracy and quality.

Repair timelines vary based on parts availability and issue complexity. We’ll provide an estimate after diagnosis and keep you updated by text and email.

• Do you charge a diagnostic fee?

Not sure if your device is covered? Check your Apple warranty or AppleCare+ status here .

• Should I back up my data before service?

Yes. Some repairs require a restore or OS reinstallation, and MelroseMAC cannot be responsible for data loss. If you’re unable to complete a backup, our technicians can perform a data backup for an additional fee—just request it at check-in.

• Are all parts genuine Apple parts?

Yes. As an Apple Authorized Service Provider, we use genuine Apple parts and follow Apple’s repair standards to maintain quality and warranty eligibility.

• How will I know when my repair is ready?

We’ll notify you by text and email when your device is ready for pickup. You can also contact our Service Department for status updates at any time.

• Do I need Find My turned off?

Yes. Find My must be turned off before service to verify device ownership and allow technicians to complete diagnostics or repairs. Apple’s system blocks repairs while Find My is active.

How do I turn it off?
Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Find My → Find My → Off, then enter your Apple ID password.

If the device won’t power on, visit iCloud.com/findAll Devices → select your device → Remove from Account. If you can't enter a code you can click on the Find My icon to bypass.
