What’s the process?
With high-quality customization standards implemented for each and every piece of technology they work on being the #1 goal, ColorWare’s unique coloring process is both rigorous and comprehensive. For starters, each ColorWare product is disassembled by hand at the Winona, Minnesota facility. Next, all the parts are carefully compartmentalized. The product is then hand-sprayed with a base coat, baked, and then hand-sprayed with X2 ~ a proprietary, scratch-resistant, clear, liquid plastic coating that protects the product from minor scratches, water, UV rays from the sun, and other natural and man-made elements in the environment. The X2 coating is the final step in the proprietary coatings process. The product is then baked again, polished, and transferred back to production to be reassembled by hand and returned to the customer its brand-new logo, colors, and/or slogan. All the work is done in the company’s “clean room” where the temperature is carefully controlled, special light bulbs are used, and a filtration system is in place.
