Because Adobe Creative Cloud is installed on your computer and not accessed through a website, your machine needs to meet certain technical specifications. If you already use Adobe CS6, chances are you already meet the required specs for Creative Cloud. However, if you are completely new to Adobe or upgrading from an earlier version, you may need to confirm that your machine meets the minimum specifications.

Adobe Creative Cloud Tech Specs

Each app has its own specifications, but there are some minimum requirements you must meet to use Adobe Creative Cloud:

  • Update your browser - Whether you use Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer, or Firefox, make sure you have the most current version before you start the download process.
  • Select an operating system - The good news about Creative Cloud is that it works seamlessly on both Mac and PC. Even if you have one of each type of computer, you can use a single Creative Cloud membership for both. For PCs you will need Microsoft Windows 7 or 8, and for Mac you will need OS X v10.7 or v10.8.
  • Get online - Although you don't need constant Internet access to use Adobe Creative Cloud after the apps have been installed, you will need to be online for the initial app download. You will also need occasional Internet access for license verification.

  • Check system requirements - For specific apps, the requirements vary depending on the app and the version. Before installing a new app or upgrading, check the following system requirements:
    • Processor speed
    • Memory
    • Available hard disk space
    • Screen resolution
    • DVD-ROM drives
    • Microsoft service packs, when applicable
    • Don't forget about Touch Apps - If you choose to add Photoshop Touch or Adobe Ideas to your membership, you must make sure your device meets certain minimum requirements such as:
      • Firmware version
      • Device type
      • Display size
      • Display resolution
      • Camera specifications

Adobe also offers several language versions depending on the app and your operating system. A unique benefit of Creative Cloud is the ability to select multiple languages for different apps. This means that if you have a user in Japan who uses Photoshop and another in Mexico who uses InDesign, they can use different languages under the same license.
