Earlier this month, Avid let us know about a contractual change with their Java software supplier, and as a result, they are switching to an open source alternative for video and broadcast products (audio products are unaffected).
Here’s what that means for you
If you purchased Avid video or broadcast products before October 1st, 2013, you’ll need to turn right around and make a backup of your installer, because as of November 1st, Avid will not be supplying installers for legacy video and broadcast products.
Here is the list of affected products:
In addition, there will likely be some changes in the new installers – for example, we expect some of the embedded apps and tools you use to become stand alone apps.
What do you do?
Make a backup of your installer immediately, because Avid will have access to your version after November 1st, and MelroseMAC has never had access.
If you don’t have a copy of your installer at all, be sure to get it from the Avid Download Center before November 1st.
If you have questions, don’t hesitate to email us, or give us a call.
