Last week, Apple sent an email out to their iMac customer database letting them know that there is a problem with the Seagate 1TB drive that was used in many of the iMacs sold between October 2009 and July 2011.  In short, that means your iMac could fail at any time, if it hasn’t already. AGH!

Fortunately, MelroseMAC Services Team is here to save the day!  You may or may not have an affected Seagate 1TB drive in your machine, but you should definitely bring it to any MelroseMAC store and let us take a look.  If your iMac does not have an affected drive, you can have it back and no further action is needed.  If your iMac does have an Seagate 1TB drive, we’ll swap it out.  No charge for the check or the swap (thank you Apple worldwide recall program!)

So come by the store location nearest you (Hollywood, Burbank or Culver City) and drop your iMac with us.  Expect to leave it with us 3 to 5 days (we know…that’s a long time without a Mac product in the home…but it’s better than losing all your data!).

Speaking of data…data transfer, recovery and backup are not included in the recall, or Apple’s standard warranty.  Bummer.  So, you can back up your data before you bring your iMac to us, or, we will reduce the price of data transfer on the Seagate 1TB drives by 50% (you pay only $75).   If your drive has failed, and you need data recovery, the price will be discounted by 25% (that's a savings of $149.75).

PS – you can drop your iMac with us for checking and repair regardless if you bought it from MelroseMAC.

Sincerely,

MelroseMAC Super Hero Services Team
