Adobe announced numerous updates to its professional video editing and content creations suite of applications within Creative Cloud ahead of the NAB 2014 conference. These will be previewed during the show, and Adobe has published these updates so we know what to expect.

Adobe Premiere Pro CC

First on the docket is Premiere Pro, the video editing and postproduction application, which will leverage two new features coming over from After Effects to better take advantage of the Non-Linear Editor (NLE).

Live Text templates let you import After Effects compositions into Premiere Pro with editable text, allowing you to include high production value motion graphics into your sequences without having to go back and forth to After Effects whenever you need to change your text content.

Powerful new Masking and Tracking tools make it easy to add feathered masks that follow your subjects through a shot, so blurring out faces, license plates, or logos is now a snap.
Adding effects is now easier and streamlined with the Master Clip tool.

With the new Master Clip effect feature, any effects you apply to a Master Clip ripple down to every part of that clip in a sequence—so you can try out and add effects much more quickly than if you had to add them to each clip individually.
The centralized nature of Creative Cloud creates a workflow environment that is optimized for efficiency. Adobe has streamlined the flow of work starting with Premiere Pro CC to SpeedGrade CC and Media Encoder CC.

Improved Direct Link offers a more flexible and robust roundtrip color grading workflow with SpeedGrade CC. Output to virtually any format, now including DCP and AS-11 content packages via Adobe Media Encoder CC.

Adobe has also expanded support on native camera formats including ARRI Amira, compressed lossless Cinema DNG from the Blackmagic Pocket Camera, and Sony STtP.

After Effects CC

Next is After Effects CC, the powerful motion graphics and visual effects application that works seamlessly with Premiere Pro.

Get better keying results from compressed or badly-shot blue or green screen footage with new keying effects.

Other integrations include the Adobe Kuler app, which allows you to capture colors anywhere with your iPhone or web browser and save them as color swatch themes for use in After Effects. TypeKit integration now gives editors access to over 700 fonts in the TypeKit library, opening the field to creativity within titling and text sequences.

Use new Live Text templates to create compositions with text that can be modified directly within Adobe Premiere Pro. With Dynamic Link you can easily make any additional adjustments back in After Effects.

Support for Panel Integration allows partners to develop panels that may be opening in After Effects, enabling a cohesive and timesaving ecosystem for 3rd party plugins, extensions, and other media.

SpeedGrade CC

Intuitive improvements have been made to the color-grading software for a better and more familiar working environment. SpeedGrade now shares the same keyboard transport controls as Premiere Pro.

Enhanced broadcast standard scopes use fixed scales to present image information in a more familiar way and the new YUV Vectorscope includes color targets so you can more easily visualize the color distribution.

New SpeedLooks have been added to more creative look design options.

Use them alongside the SpeedLooks camera patches for added precision with a broad range of today’s digital cinema cameras.

Audition CC

Adobe’s professional audio editing application is an integral part of the roundtrip workflow through Premiere Pro.Support of Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus makes it easier for delivery of broadcast projects with Dolby 5.1 audio content.

Channel customization allows editors to create audio for virtually any setting by defining how many channels to give a project and add labels for each.

Prelude CC

Providing a unified interface for ingest and shot logging during production, Prelude is the Bridge equivalent for video editors and assistants to select shots, create notes, and add markers to their clips for an easier and smoother transition into Premiere Pro.

Dramatically speed up shot logging by using the new Tag panel to create customized tags you can add with a single click as you review your footage. Enrich your media with metadata without typing—or typos.

Save Tag templates for sharing between machines and users or or re-use on new projects.

A streamlined rough-cut workflow allows users to generate assembly edits by dragging and dropping and trim them up or down with mouse and keyboard shortcuts within the Prelude timeline.

Story CC Plus

Adding to the extremely helpful Story Free web-based application Story CC Plus helps screenwriters, flim makers, and broadcasters create and manage scripts, production plans, storyboards, and calendars to get their story on screen faster.

Fine-tune scripts with new custom formatting options such as modifying headers and footers to include date, location name, and program number.

Media Encoder CC

Video editors and content creators rely on Media Encoder CC to render and transcode their projects for a variety of deliverables. Updates include the GPU-accelerated Mercury Playback Engine, which delivers projects quickly and efficiently so users spend less time waiting and more where it counts.

Along with a wide range of encoding options, you can now also generate industry-standard DCP or AS-11 content packages.
